The favoured mode of transport for Mods was the motor scooter, usually the Italian designed Lambretta or Vespa, often festooned with lights and mirrors. This photo was taken in a year that saw running battles between mods and rockers. Many of these occurred in seaside towns near London such as Clacton, Margate and Brighton.
